Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted the only goal of the game as England Under-20s defeated Venezuela 1-0 to win the World Cup.

The Blues forward landed the all-important blow in the 35th minute, tucking home a left-footed shot at the near post after seeing his initial shot saved, to become the first England player since Geoff Hurst to score in a World Cup final.

It caps a remarkable 12 months for Calvert-Lewin, who joined Everton from Sheffield United last summer, helping the Under-23s to the Premier League 2 title, as well as making 11 first-team outings and scoring his maiden Premier League goal during his first year at Goodison Park.
