Mason Holgate is hoping to follow up a memorable breakthrough campaign at Everton with European glory for England Under-21s.
After impressing Ronald Koeman during pre-season last summer, the 20-year-old defender, who was signed from Barnsley in the summer of 2015, made his first-team debut for the Blues against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the 2016/17 Premier League term.
He has gone on to make 21 appearances for the Toffees, while also helping England Under-21s qualify for the European Championships finals.
That tournament is set to get under way in mid-June, with Aidy Boothroyd’s side set to take on hosts Poland, Slovakia and Sweden - and Holgate is keeping his fingers crossed for a place in the Young Lions squad.
