Jags: Koeman Commands Respect

Phil Jagielka has revealed how learning from a manager of Ronald Koeman’s stature has been key to Everton’s improvement this season.

The Blues skipper says the Dutchman’s “charisma” and trophy-laden career has brought “excitement” and “respect” to a Toffees squad which has sealed a seventh-place finish in the Premier League, and with it a return to European football next season.

In Koeman’s first campaign as Everton manager, the Club picked up 43 points at Goodison – their highest tally in the Premier League era and most since the 1989/90 campaign.

Jagielka believes Koeman’s decisiveness has been well received, and says a man whose playing career included scoring the winning goal for Barcelona in the 1992 European Cup final, and helping Holland to Euro 1988 glory, commands respect.
