Phil Jagielka knows Everton’s squad cannot “rest on their laurels” in the season run-in, insisting everyone needs to impress to stay part of Ronald Koeman’s summer plans.
The Blues travel to Swansea City on Saturday with at least a seventh-place finish in the Premier League – and European qualification – already secured.
The Toffees are just two points behind Arsenal in sixth, though, albeit having played two games more, and go to the Gunners on the final day of the season.
Jagielka says that has given Everton another target to aim for. But with Koeman warning he will make changes to his side if high standards are not kept, he feels a more important incentive is the need for Blues players to perform well in the final three matches to stay in the Dutchman’s first-team plans for the 2017/18 campaign.
