Morgan Schneiderlin has seen plenty of promise in his midfield partnership with Idrissa Gana Gueye - and he is backing the anchorman pairing to be even more effective next season.
Gana has finished his first season at Everton as the Premier League’s top tackler; his 135 putting him ahead of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Oriol Romeu of Southampton.
But Schneiderlin, a January signing from Manchester United, says there is much more to his teammate’s game than simply winning back the ball.
The France international believes both also have responsibilities in the side to “make the team play” - roles they will be more influential in next season once they have had a full pre-season working together.
